Wallace Mecham

Aurora, Utah - Isaac Wallace Mecham, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in Salina, Utah. He was 67 years old.

Born on November 27, 1957 to William Eldwin Mecham and Vivian Deaton Mecham in Salina, Utah. Wallace grew up and spent most of his life in Aurora, Utah, where he became a larger-than-life figure in a small-town world. He never left you wondering what he thought—Wallace was direct, hilarious, patriotic, and above all, dependable. With a heart as big as his presence, he poured himself into his family, his community, and everything he believed in.

Wallace was a man of many hats: a coal miner, truck driver, and a jack of all trades but a master of none, who wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. His life was full of horsepower—whether it was riding horses, roaring down the road on his Harley-Davidson, or chasing wild mustangs. He had a deep love for the open land and could often be found exploring it in his side-by-side, cigarette in hand and a Western playing on the screen when he was home. He had strong opinions, a soft spot for family, and a wild sense of humor—he kept everyone on their toes.

A proud American, Wallace served in the U.S. Army and National Guard from 1986 to 1996, achieving the rank of Sergeant E5. He was an expert marksman, attended sniper school, and served tours in Kuwait and Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Cold War Medal. His dedication to his country was matched only by his love for his family.

Wallace is survived by his children: Jason (Lacie) Mecham, Jesse (Skyla) Mecham, Jenny (Dustin) Beckstead, Lynn Mecham, Jamie (Bryan) Mecham, Alyssa (Riley) Mec-Walters, Karissa (Barry) Meacham, Sierra (Mike) Mecham, Jessie (Alex) Jeppesen, James (Kenzie) Holmes, and June Kerr. He is also survived by his siblings and in-laws: Jesse James, Gladys (Punchy) Christensen, Bill Mecham, and Margaret (Mark) Campbell. Wallace leaves behind a proud legacy of 33 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews who adored him.

Wallace is preceded in death by: his parents, grandparents, sisters Elda Lyne James and Jane Mecham, grandsons Drake Mecham and Zayden Holmes. His best buddies Gerry Mickelsen and Bruce Carter.

Wallace Mecham lived life full throttle, and those who knew him will never forget his laugh, his strength, or the way he made everyone feel a little more alive. He is deeply loved—and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield. Friends may visit with family Tuesday night from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday morning 9:00 - 10:30 A.M. prior to services.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Aurora Cemetery, under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
