Obituary

Aurora, Utah - Velma Louisa Albrecht Torgersen, age 88, passed away on February 15, 2026 at her home in Aurora.

Velma was born on the "Albrecht Ranch" in Fremont Utah to Everett Dale and Madge Blackburn Albrecht on November 17, 1937. She was the second child and only daughter of a family of seven children. She was privileged to be a sister to Derrell, Virgil, Orlo Neil, Dale Jr., Max Lynn, and Jake Albrecht. She was raised on the ranch the first nine years of her life and then her parents purchased a family home in Fremont where she was surrounded by and played with cousins and friends and had aunts, uncles, on several corners. She went to elementary school in Fremont, and attended junior and senior high school at Wayne High School, in Bicknell Utah. She graduated with her class in 1956.

She married Milen Torgersen, of Koosharem, Utah August 30, 1956 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. After living in Salt Lake City, and Koosharem, they moved to Aurora, Utah, where they found what came to be their forever family home and still is. Their four daughters were raised there.

Velma was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, at eight years of age in the Fremont Canal. She was a life-long member, serving in all organizations, both ward and stake. Velma and Milen served a Mission at Cove Fort, that they both enjoyed.

She worked at Salina Elementary many years. She loved the children. The blessing of being a wife and mother brought her the greatest joy. She loved being a mother and grandmother. She loved her family and their families. She lived for her family, her daughters and spouses, her grandchildren and spouses, and great-grandchildren. That was always the first, most important and most loved priority in her life. She loved family gatherings. Many times including her brothers and their families in these gatherings (as she claimed each one as her own).

She is survived by her daughters: Debra (Gayland) Larsen, Dalene (Troy) Hallows, all of Aurora, Cheryl (Deran) Bosshardt, of Redmond, Sheila (Dan) Black of Garland. She adores all of them. She is also survived by her brothers: Dale (Lois) Albrecht and Jake (Sandy) Albrecht; and her sister-in-Law: Wendy Albrecht.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milen Torgersen; her parents: Dale and Madge Albrecht; step-father, Ken Taylor; and four brothers: Derrel, (Pat) Albrecht; Virgil, (Karen) Albrecht; Orlo and Max Albrecht.

Funeral services for Velma will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Aurora Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held from 11:00-12:30 P.M. at the church, prior to services.
