Aurora, Utah - On May 22, 2025, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sharee Barney Wasden, passed peacefully from this life at her home surrounded by her family.

Sharee was born December 9, 1956 in Richfield, Utah to Clem Marland and Charlotte White Barney. She attended Richfield High School, where she was a cheerleader, participated in track, and a friend to all. She graduated in 1975 and headed south to Dixie where she worked for the local newspaper and enjoyed the sun and all Dixie had to offer, skydiving being a main highlight.

While walking Richfield's main street one night with friends, a handsome young man stopped and asked if she'd like to hop in and "drag main" with him. She said "NO". Two years later, she was introduced to the same young man, now a returned missionary and this time she said "YES". She married Richard Thad Wasden on June 17, 1977 in the Manti Temple. They planted their roots in Aurora and were blessed with 6 children: Haley (Darren) Obray, Kade (Penni) Wasden, Joshua (Shaylene) Wasden, Kody (Layken) Wasden, Randi (Joshua) Hunt, and Katie (Steven) Warby, 28 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.

Sharee is a stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served compassionately and fervently in the many callings she held in the church as well as in the community. She was always reaching out to others and would always be looking for someone who might be alone or needed a pick-me-up, especially children.

Sharee really enjoyed swimming and was a lifeguard and swim teacher for many years at the Salina City Pool. She also enjoyed working at Salina Elementary, first as an instructional assistant starting in 1996, and then as the librarian where she loved teaching the kids not only the joy of reading, but also finger knitting, various songs and games, and how to grow triops. She retired in 2019.

Sharee had many hobbies including bowling with her mom, ASL, yardsaling, sewing, and antique collecting. She had a passion for knitting and crocheting. She'd always have her bag of yarn, hooks, and knitting needles close. She made blankets, jeans, coats, sweaters, Christmas stockings, and other beautiful things for her children and grandchildren as well as for the Richfield Humanitarian center where she volunteered each week.

Sharee loved being and working in the temple with Richard, as well as her family and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She truly lived her favorite quote: "Live your life so that those who don't know Him, but know you, will want to know Him, because they know you."

Sharee is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren, her mom, Charlotte Barney of Richfield, her siblings: Roger (Marsha) Barney, Terry (Pauline) Barney, both of Richfield, Scott (Elsie) Barney of Salem, Teresa (Roy) Hooper of Nephi, Darren (Lana) Barney of Gunnison.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Clem Barney; sister, Colleen DeAngelo; grandchildren: Canyon Hunt, Quinn Wasden, Grace and Lilly Wasden.

Funeral services for Sharee will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 in the Aurora LDS Chapel, 85 North Main Street, where friends may call for viewing from 6-8:00 P.M. the evening of Friday, May 30th, and from 9-10:30 A.M. the morning of the services.
