Shana Kay Holt Andersen

Richfield, Utah - Our beautiful mother and grandmother, Shana Kay Holt Andersen, age 90, peacefully passed away in her home on July 15, 2026. She was born on January 11, 1936 in Aberdeen, Idaho to James LeVon and Reah Margaret Westover Holt.

Shana spent her time growing up in Aberdeen, Idaho and a short time in Chico, California. As a young girl, she loved playing with paper dolls she made from the Sears catalog, spending time with friends and roller skating. She attended Aberdeen High School, was involved in the band, playing clarinet and was a Majorette. Graduating in 1954, she went on to LDS Business College located in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she earned her Secretarial Certificate.

Shana married her sweetheart, Jay Clare Andersen, on December 5, 1958 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They enjoyed many years together until his passing on March 18, 2020. Through their years, they lived in Sterling, Idaho, Salt Lake City, Utah, Bountiful, Utah and then planted their roots in 1969 in Richfield, Utah for the remainder of her days.

As a young lady, she worked the potato fields in Idaho and Sperry Univac in Salt Lake City. She was delighted to be a homemaker for most of her married life, but also worked a few years as the secretary for Ashman Elementary school.

Shana was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings including Primary, Young Womens and Relief Society Presidencies, Blazer leader, Ward Choir director, and FREP worker. She and her husband were able to serve missions for the church locally for the Church Education System and in the Philippines, Missouri Independence and Ohio Cleveland (Historic Kirtland) Missions. She enjoyed serving as an ordinance worker in the Manti LDS Temple. Having a beautiful voice Shana loved singing with the Mellotones for more than 30 years, entertaining at community events. She was one to always be serving others and loved washing dishes, whether at home or at ward funeral luncheons.

Shana is survived by her children: JaNae Akre of Saratoga Springs; Scott (Jill) Andersen of Golden, Colorado; Alan (Sydney) Andersen of Mantua; Steven (Natascha) Andersen of Spring Hill, Tennessee; Jeff (Tiffany) Andersen of Richfield. Along with 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jay Clare Andersen; parents, James and Reah Holt; sister, Jean Palmer and brother, Jack Holt.

Funeral Services for Shana will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Richfield Stake Center, 159 North 400 West, Richfield, Utah. Friends may call for viewing from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Richfield Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West and on Saturday from 9:00- 10:30 A.M. at the Stake Center the morning prior to services.

Burial will be in the Richfield Cemetery under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
