Redmond, Utah - Sandra Sue was born on September 8th, 1946 on a beautiful late summer day in Salina, Utah to Merrill and Joy Gurr. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 27, 2026.

Sandra Sue as she was known by most, was born with the sweetest essence and zest for life. Her grandparents would always tell her what a sweet soul she was and how she was an angel on earth. To the very day she died she lived her life in a way that made those words come true.

Sandra spent her childhood growing up in both Sigurd and Salina, Utah, and married her high school sweetheart, Bert Ted Jensen, on June 6 1964 in Salina. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple on July 1st of 1967, creating their eternal union. They had six children together and were also blessed to be able to raise her grandson Logan Pettit from a very young age, he was her beloved 7th child. Later in life she was lucky enough to have all her kids live close to her, and she was able to spend lots of time with her family, which was her most cherished time on this earth.

Sandra is known to all as a person who spent her time serving others. Whether it was cooking meals for families in need, or helping members of her ward and the community with acts of charity and kindness. Simply writing a kind note, giving out a much needed hug, cooking a warm meal, buying a coke and a cookie, or giving a subway gift card, she was always there to help in anyway she could.

Sandra had the privilege of working for both Salina Elementary as an aide and more importantly the school librarian, and also for the Central Utah Correctional Facility as a purchasing agent. She loved both careers and made lifetime friends with her coworkers. Her favorite though was being a school librarian. Kids that she taught in the library still remember the impact she had and would remind her of that often. She was known for dressing up every week in a different costume and telling exciting stories. Each holiday was a new surprise for everybody in the library. She loved kids and had so much fun making the it an unforgettable place for the students to go. They loved their weekly visits and couldn't wait to see what she had cooked up for the next story.

She was active in her church and had many callings and served those callings with her whole heart. She has always been a shining example of the love of Christ, and lived her life in that way, her church callings were an extension of the love she had for her savior

Her zest for life also included a love of travel and adventure. She traveled many times with her family to many different places. She won two vacations by being the Showcase showdown winner on the Price is Right (her claim to fame) in 2018, and won two amazing trips. The first to Thailand and the second to Scotland, both of those trips created lasting memories and moments that she still loves to reminisce about and share. Whether it was Hawaii, Alaska, or Florida, as long as she was with her family she was always having the best time. Her favorite was traveling to California and spending unforgettable family vacations at Disneyland. We we will always hold those memories dear to our hearts.

Sandra also had the privilege of helping to care for her both her elderly parents and her father in law as they neared the end of their lives. This example lives on through her children, who were able to learn that service and love to others are the most important things you can do in this life. She loved others so much and worked so hard to make other peoples lives a little bit brighter. We thank her for her all the service and love that she gave to each and everyone of us and for the wonderful memories she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Bert Jensen, her parents, Merrill and Joy Gurr, beloved father-in-law Lester Skeeter Jensen, sisters Roene Anderson, and Laurie Hatch, and grandson Alex Kraig Jensen.

She is survived by all six children, Brenda (Clayton) Carter, Kendra (Richard) Pettit, Brett Jensen, Brian (Charloe) Jensen, Kraig (Karen) Jensen, Starlyn Jensen, twelve grandchildren and twelve great grand children, as well as family friend Shawn Willden.

We love you mom and we are so thankful for all the love you have given to all of us and the example of selflessness and charity that you held in your heart.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of At Home Hospice in Salina, Utah. For their compassionate care and kindness in the last days of Sandra's life.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 5, 2026 in the Redmond Ward Chapel, 310 West 100 North in Redmond, where viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM on Friday, September 4 and from 9-10:30 A.M. the morning of the services.

Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
