Salina, Utah - On December 13, 2025, Robert Nielsen passed away in his home that he built. Robert was the third of four sons born to LeLand and Callie Nielsen in Salina, Utah on August 18, 1930.
Robert's father LeLand, built the home in which they lived. All the brothers, Jay, Bennet, Robert and Don shared the same small room. As a young boy growing up in Salina, Robert was very active in school sports. Everyone called him "Lefty". He also loved hunting and fishing but not as much as the young lady, Beth Campbell, who moved into town and reeled him in.
By the age of 19, Robert built a home for his young bride Beth. Baby boys kept showing up. Four to be exact, Kent, Mark, Blake, and Burke, requiring Robert to double the house to handle the chaos.
Robert worked for Valley Builders as their foreman. He eventually became an independent contractor and built many homes and cabins in the area. Robert was a wood craftsman. He made custom cabinets and furniture. His favorite creation was a cabin cruiser as he enjoyed boating, fishing, and waterskiing.
Beth passed away from cancer in 1982. Before her death, Beth asked Robert to consider marrying her sister, Phyllis. Robert married Phyllis Campbell and shared many happy years together until her death in 2017.
After Robert retired from building, he caught gold-fever, taking up prospecting and mining as a hobby. But his real treasures are his 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren who are here because of him.
The last words uttered by Robert were, "I love you guys".
Cremation services are under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina.
