Hurricane, Utah - Richard Lawrence Midson passed away peacefully on August 11, 2022, surrounded by his family, and loved ones at the age of 81 in Hurricane, Utah. Richard had been battling Parkinson’s Disease for the past four years. Although he will be very missed, he is finally at peace. Richard was born on May 23, 1941, in San Francisco, California to Richard Lawrence Midson Sr. and Mazel Ophelia Burns. From a young age Richard was always a hard worker and started working at the age of 17 for the city and county of San Francisco where he delivered mail from his bicycle, worked in the hospital, the water department, and the cable car department. In 1960 he met the love his life, Elena Yvonne “Chica” Jospeh. They married on July 9, 1960, and 1962 they started their family when they welcomed their oldest daughter Sherry into the world in July. From there they had another daughter, Denise and two sons Rick and Sonny. In 1975 he retired from the cable car department and moved his family to Salina, Utah where he began his employment at Cox Rocks Products, and eventually became the plant manager. He remained there until his retirement in 1994. Richard enjoyed many hobbies that he shared with his family. Some of his favorites were camping, fishing, boating, hunting, jeeping, and exploring in the mountains. He had seven grandchild who adored him and loved spending time with him any chance they got, especially going boating at Lake Powell. Richard was loved by many and was always willing to help when needed. In 2015 Richard and Chica moved to Hurricane, where they spent the rest of his life enjoying their retirement. Richard is survived by his wife Elene Midson, Sons: Sonny (Lesley) Midson, Rick (Mary) Midson, sister Marilyn Cox, his seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Richard L. Midson Sr. (father), Mazel O. Burns (mother), Randy Burns Midson (brother), Sherry Midson (daughter), Denise Midson (daughter). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 16, 2022 at in the Serentiy Funeral Home Chapel, 1316 South 400 West Suite A-3 in St. George, Utah, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place at a later date in the Salina Eastsdie Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
