Centerfield, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Rex Grant Christensen, age 77, passed away January 14, 2018 in Gunnison, Utah. He was born September 3, 1940 in Murray, a son of Grant Johannes and May Beatrice Christensen. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High School, Class of 1958. Rex married Maxine Nielson, September 30, 1961 in Manti, Utah.. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring after 22 years of military service. He was a true American and loved his country. Rex was a hard worker and was very mechanically inclined. He loved his family, they were everything to him. He was a selfless person who looked out for others first and never complained. He loved fishing and hunting. He had a passion for cooking and loved to entertain his family and friends. He was an avid rock hunter. He made beautiful jewelry from the stones he found. Rex is survived by his loving wife, Maxine of Centerfield; children: Lynne Anne (Kevin) Christensen-Merendino of Salt Lake City; Eric (Theo) Christensen of Beaver Dam, Arizona; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Glenna Ernst, Connie (Dick) Hilyard. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grant and May Christensen and a brother, Dell Christensen. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Centerfield 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Centerfield American Legion Post #106 and the United States Navy Honor Guard will be in the Centerfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
