Lyman, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Montez Christensen VanDyke, age 74, passed away February 13, 2026 at her home in Lyman .
Montez was born on June 6, 1951 to Alcied V. Christensen and Odette Forsyth Christensen Martin. She grew up in Holiday, Utah where some of her childhood favorites included sleepovers with her friend Penny, babysitting, and skateboarding down Delsa Drive. She attended Kearns High School, graduating in 1969. She went on to Dental Assisting school and received her certificate. She married Alden VanDyke in Salt Lake City, on January 17, 1969. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on September 23, 1972.Throughout her life, she had an interest in scrapbooking, decorating, recipe collecting, canning, sewing, gardening her flower pots, camping and going for scenic drives.
Montez is survived by her husband Alden of Lyman, two daughters; Shauna (Arnold) Mikesell of Morgan, Monica (Shawn) Sulser of Clinton, and son, Kelly D (Kristy) VanDyke of Fremont. Grandchildren: Jacob, Krystal, Colton, Bridger, Brant, Bryce, Kayden, Russell and Rhylie. Great- Grandchildren: Tayton, Isaac, Evelyn, Jackson, Kezliee, Maizie, Oakley, Dean, Christian, Vivienne, Kase, Erica, and Kayzlee.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Charles V. Christensen, and sister, Margean Bezzant.
Graveside services for Montez will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Lyman Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing from 11:00-12:30 P.M. at the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, 200 South Main Street in Lyman, prior to services.
Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
