Loa, Utah - Our kind and loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Michael Lloyd Turner, age 64, passed away September 24, 2018 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mike was born July 5, 1954 in Salina, Utah, a son and the last child born to Garn Daniel and Geneve Duncan Turner of Loa. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1972, where he excelled in sports, especially basketball. Mike served his country in the US Army from 1972 to 1974. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Peggy Gubbins June 11, 1989 in Loa. They were later divorced. At a very young age, Mike started taking things made with electrical wires apart and then putting them back together differently, but better. He had an exceptional work ethic. He achieved the level of a Licensed Journeyman Electrician. He was given multiple awards for this and for his ingenuity in creating ways to accomplish tasks more efficiently. Michael's most precious time was spent in Loa. He loved going home, being with his parents, helping them in many ways. He was proud of his brothers and sisters, his nieces and nephews, and would often talk about them to whoever would listen. He had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed sharing that talent with others. Mike was a kind and gentle soul, easy going and very well liked by his many friends. He enjoyed laughing and found joy in doing so. Mike was a strong and determined man. His thick beautiful hair was the envy of his two sisters. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mike is survived by his siblings: Kenny and Carolyn Turner of Helper; Monte and Jeanine Turner of Richfield; Lila (Greg, deceased) Bowden of Cedar City; Carol (Rollo, deceased) Brinkerhoff of Roosevelt; Wesley (deceased) and Vickie Turner of Salt Lake City. He is preceded in death by his parents, Garn and Geneve Turner; a brother, Wesley Turner; and two brothers-in-law: Rollo Brinkerhoff and Greg M. Bowden. Graveside services with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard, will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
