Obituary

Salina, Utah - Michael Lynn Davis, our Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Friend passed away on March 26, 2026 in his home, filled with family.

Mike was born on March 21, 1948 to Herbert Davis and Ramona Carter Davis in Payson, Utah. Mike was the oldest of 7 children.

He grew up in Salem, where his parents were mink farmers. He learned how to work hard with long days with a little horsing around. His childhood consisted of the choice of going to church or going trapping and he would choose trapping with his Dad. Him and his siblings grew up fishing at Payson Lakes, hunting up on Nebo, swimming in Salem Pond, in the canal, and throwing cattails at cars passing and watching them explode. In his teenage years he was always driving in the old green Jeep up the canyon. He bought his first car with his brother Steff, a 59 Impala, which he blew the motor up before Steff even got to drive it.

Mike started college at the U of U where he worked, Studied with his daughter in the park, and met his future brother in law, Dwaine. He met and married his first wife, Cindy, and had 3 children together, Tammy, Darin and Jason. After College he started working at US Steel before entering the army for 6 months where he became a combat engineer and then joined the reserves for 8 years. Horse Canyon Mine in East Carbon, sought him out and held his job while he was in the army where US steel did not. It was there where he joined Search and Rescue and became a member of the Jeep Posse. After his divorce, he met and married the love of his life, Jackie Boren on May 16, 1976, taking in her 2 children, Pauline and Donny as his own.

He later transferred to Sufco Mine where he and Jackie built their home and life in Salina. In 1979 they had a child together, Scott. It is here they raised their children together. They ingrained in them so many things, made so many memories and shared their love of the outdoors. He continued with the search and rescue winning awards for shooting and jeep rallys. Continued his stamp collecting which he started with his dad and shared with his kids. Summers were spent hunting and camping, ATV riding where he would always take us on his "short cuts" that was always longer, More scenic but longer and we would always say you better pack a lunch.

Mike began to be more active in the LDS church. He became Elders Quorum President and discovered his love for Geneology, completing it for his family and Jackie's. Mike and Jackie sealed their love for Time and All Eternity on May 16, 2000 in the Manti, Utah Temple.

Mike and Jackie loved traveling together. They made many memories driving back East on the church history trip passing through Detroit to see where Scott served his mission and to Nigara falls. They also traveled to Alaska to visit their granddaughter, and on cruises with other family members and many other trips making those memories that they treasure.

About 10 years ago, Mike developed a severe and quick moving infection where he spent 7 months in the hospital where he could not get back to 100% for the rest of his life.

While he enjoyed all these things in life, grandchildren were his true Joy. He did everything he could to be there for as many things, or for as many of them as possible. So many of them carry with them his love for hunting, camping, and family.

He is succeeded in life by his Love, Jackie Davis of Salina, UT, Daughters Tammy Stanton of Provo, and Pauline (Mark) Maxfield of Salina, Sons Darin (Kathy) of Salem, Donny (Robyn) Henningson of Sigurd, Jason (Farrah) of Orem and Scott (Felicia) of Price, Brothers Stephen (Cheryl of Salem, Dave (Vera) of Benjamin, Dell of Fountain Green and Boyd (Vera) of Salem, sisters Linda Spence of Provo and Vicky Beebe (Dwaine) of Salt Lake City, 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Ramona Davis, his sisters in law Genie and Paula Davis, his brother in law Don Spence, nephew Gavin Easter and niece Carissa Easter.

The family would like to thank Pinnacle Rehab and Nursing center for taking care of him before he came home, At Home Hospice, Salina Creek Ward and Springer-Turner Funeral Home and everyone who has supported us through this time.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Salina LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, a viewing will be held from 10:00-11:30 AM at the Springer Turner Funeral Chapel in Salina, 150 East Main Street, prior to services.
