Maurine Ellett Winters, 89, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025. She was born June 8, 1936, in Bicknell, Utah, to Joseph Alonzo and Laverda Marie Ellett. Maurine grew up surrounded by the beauty of southern Utah with strong pioneer roots and a deep love of family and faith.

She graduated from Utah State University in 1958, where she met and married the love of her life, Bobby Eugene Winters. Together they lived, worked, and raised their family in Toppenish, Washington. Maurine taught dance early in her life and later became a drill team advisor at Toppenish High School. She was an enthusiastic supporter of Bob’s long career as a teacher and football coach, serving as his biggest cheerleader and right-hand helper–always ready to feed a team, organize an event, or uplift others with her kindness and energy.

Maurine dedicated countless hours to her church and community, including many years volunteering with the Toppenish Mural Society. Her faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ guided everything she did. Maurine and Bob faithfully served several missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. Maurine cherished her time with the sister missionaries and later wrote two books about those experiences, including Angels on Temple Square.

She will be remembered for her determination, compassion, loyalty, and love for family. Maurine found joy in writing, journaling, beach trips, and serving others. Her life was one of devotion—to her faith, her family, and her community. Maurine’s legacy of love and service will continue to bless all who knew her.

Maurine is survived by her five children: Marie (Jay) Adams of Hurricane, Utah, Rock (Jackie) Winters of Las Vegas, NV, Rick (JaLynne) Winters of Aberdeen, WA, Randy (Angel) Winters of Zillah, WA, and Mindi (Kody) Dribnak of Enumclaw, WA; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and siblings Janett Morrell, Catherine Mielke, and Rodney Ellett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Winters; her parents, Lon & LaVerda Ellett; sister Roma Kenney; and brothers Lane Ellett and Gary Ellett.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 8th at the Bicknell Cemetery.
