Salina, Utah - Mary Lou Prows Bastian passed away on December 26, 2025 at the Gunnison Valley Hospital surrounded by family. She was born September 22, 1932 in Salina, Utah to Arthur C. Prows and Izola Long Prows. She married her school sweetheart, Richard (Buddy) Bastian on June 10, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized on December 3, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She graduated from North Sevier High School in 1950. She worked in the Weber County Schools as an aide, librarian and secretary for many years. She was an active member of the LDS church, serving in many positions. She was also a member of the "Daughters of the Utah Pioneers".

Mary is survived by her three sons; Richard (Rachael) Bastian of Salina, Randy (Mary) Bastian of Johnson City, Tennessee, Carl (Kathy) Bastian of South Weber. 14 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren and 3 great- great- grandchildren. 

Her family was her prized possession. She loved them unconditionally and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved her neighbors and friends and her ward family. She never met a person she couldn't find good in. She loved happy people. A special thanks and love to all who treated our mom with love.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother (Dail), sister (Donna) and her sweetheart Buddy.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday January 3, 2026 in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery in Salina.

Burial is under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina.
