Hanksville - Marilyn Jean Sellers, age 79: singer of songs, adventurer, grandma to 32 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren, disciple of Christ, and winner of mother-of-the-year award for the last 59 years; has set off on her greatest adventure, which began on July 2, 2017, when she left her beloved family, and joined her husband, Rodney James Sellers in Heaven. She was currently making memories with new friends at the Beehive Home of St. George. Marilyn’s life took her to many places, the first being Bedford, Ohio, where she was born on August 25, 1937. She then enjoyed California life, where she graduated Excelsior High School and soon after married her forever guy, Rod, on August 16, 1955 in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple. Rod brought the Gospel of Jesus Christ into Marilyn’s life and it forever directed her path. She loved singing at church and serving, whether it was a primary calling or a proselyting mission in Austria, she was loving every minute she spent in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Home, for Marilyn, was always Hanksville, Utah. She spent some of her happiest memories there with her family and friends. Her hobbies of sewing, crochet, gardening, swimming, singing, painting and playing games were always accompanied by her grandkids. She is laughing and reconnecting with her parents, Walter Ronald Walton and Olive Lilian Dixon. In addition to her husband and parents, her welcoming party included her sister, Linda Lee Dewitt and her grandsons, Jared Heber Albrecht, Aaron Tyler Wells, and Crew Anderson Lundin. If you knew Marilyn, you also knew her kids: Karen Sellers (St. George, UT), Brenda (Pete) Johnson (Ivins, UT), Wade Sellers (Riverdale, UT), Dale (Celeste) Sellers (Hanksville, UT), Rhonda (Kenny) Wells (Hanksville, UT) and Lisa (Lance) Wells (Hanksville, UT). These were her favorite people to make memories with. She is also survived by a brother, Tommy and his wife, Carol Walton from Hemet, California. Our farewell celebration will be Monday, July 10 at the Hanksville LDS Chapel. The viewing will be from 9:30 am -11:30 am, funeral services at 12:00pm, and interment at Hanksville Cemetery.
