Obituary

Lyman, Utah - Our beloved mother, Margaret Lou Parsons Oldroyd, age 86, returned home to her Heavenly Father March 4, 2026 at her home in Lyman. She was born August 6, 1939 in Susanville, California, a daughter of Morris Loriane and Vera Payne Parsons. She grew up in Glenwood, and graduated from Richfield High School.

Margaret married Vernon Willis Oldroyd for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 4, 1956. They made their home in Lyman, where they raised their six children. Vernon preceded her in death on September 6, 2006.

Margaret worked at the local grocery store for many years. She worked hard and enjoyed all the people she got to meet there. She had a warm affectionate smile that she greeted everyone with. She knew every person in Wayne County and could tell you about each family. She always gave the benefit of the doubt. She loved hard and she loved freely. She would gladly give you her last dollar, she was a wonderful woman, full of love You couldn't help but love her.

Margaret was a very loving and giving person. Her hands were always busy and her heart was always full. She was always worrying about the other guy, the fallen, the sad, and the oppressed. She was always the silent one in the background rocking a sleeping child, consoling a sad soul, or cooking a much-needed meal.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and held many different callings throughout her life. She knew God, she loved him and she talked with him. Her nightly prayers ran for hours as she poured out her heart to him, her family find peace knowing she is with him today,

Margaret's proudest moments were when she was with her family.

She is survived by her children: Debra Whitehead of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Sue Ann Westwood of Box Elder, South Dakota; Steve Oldroyd of Orangeville; Willis Oldroyd of Lyman; Camille Behunin of Hurricane; Karl Oldroyd of Washington; 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother: Bill Parsons, and sister: Clara Lee VanDyke.
