Centerfield, Utah - Kathryn Jensen Caldwell, age 82, passed away on August 23, 2021 at Welcome Home Assisted Living in Pleasant Grove, UT. She was born the daughter of Kenneth and Dortha Jensen on December 24, 1938 in Gunnison, Utah. She was the oldest of two children. She graduated from Gunnison Valley High School in 1957, where she was active in cheerleading, band, and yearbook and served as the editor her senior year. She was the FFA Sweetheart in 1957. Kathryn married her high school sweetheart, Morris Christian Caldwell, on August 6, 1960 in Gunnison, UT. They were divorced in 1994 and remained the dearest of friends until his death in 2019 In 1961, she moved with Morris to Germany as he was drafted in the US Army and served for two years, mostly in Munich. After they came back, she worked for Gunnison Valley Builders. Later on, she went to work for the Gunnison Valley Hospital with her mother, and eventually became the Assistant Administrator for nearly 20 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved her time serving on the Centerfield Old Folks Committee for over 20 years. She also served as the primary pianist and ward organist. One of her favorite callings was working at the prison, teaching the church’s genealogy program to the inmates. Her love of genealogy extended far beyond her calling. She completed many family histories, scrapbooks, and temple work. Her hobbies included many crafts including painting, ceramics, and needlework, and she was an avid reader. She owned hundreds of books. She made numerous cross stitched pictures, blankets, table clothes and other keepsakes for many family members and friends. After retiring from the hospital she lived and worked in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, and eventually went back to Gunnison. She later lived at Mission at Community Assisted Living Center, where she made many friends and enjoyed river rafting trips and other activities. In October of 2020, she moved to Welcome Home Assisted Living in Pleasant Grove to be near family. The family would like to thank the caregivers at both facilities for their love and friendship over the years. She is survived by brother RK Jensen (Pat) of Hayden Lake, ID, son Danny (Kris) of Pleasant Grove, Grandson Cooper Caldwell of Alpine, Granddaughter Chanelle Caldwell of Saratoga Springs, and Great Granddaughter Myah Caldwell. She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Morris Caldwell, and son David Caldwell. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Centerfield 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
