Obituary

Aurora, Utah - Judy Ann Peterson Wood, age 83, passed away in Richfield, Utah on June 28th, 2026.

On a cold winter's day, February 4, 1943, a beautiful baby girl was born in Salina Utah Hospital to parents Al A. Peterson, and Afton Draper Peterson. She was the first baby, so they were a little nervous about her presence, however, it didn't take long for them to fall in love with this beautiful baby girl they named Judy Ann Peterson.

Years went swiftly by and before long, Judy was starting to attend school. The Aurora Elementary was still in Aurora at that time, she was a great student and excelled in her years of schooling. As she grew, she began Junior High School in Salina, Utah. She was perfectionist, and in a few years, she began attending North Sevier High School. She was crowned FFA Queen, and had many honors. After her Sophomore, she met and married Neale Christensen. About this time she worked as the Post Master at the Aurora Post Office, and did so for many years. They were married in her parents home in Aurora by J.B. Crane, a bishop in Salina, Utah. They were married for 45 years, adopting a son they named Chanley C. Christensen.

After years went by, their marriage crumbled and they were divorced. Before too long, their son Chanley passed away. The coming years found Judy active in the LDS Church, that is where she met and married a friend by the name of Ron Wood. They had happy years together living in Aurora, but unfortunately Ron became very ill and passed away on October 31, 2025. Judy was never quite the same after Ron died. She did begin working in the Manti LDS Temple's office and continued her activity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Then medical problems stopped her from doing much, she eventually went into the Mission Care Center in Richfield, Utah where she spent 3 weeks before she passed away on June 28, 2026. Judy was a kind, creative and caring person. Before her health worsened, she was active in her community and church. We all love her and will miss her so very much.

She is survived by her sister Vicki (Tony) Gubler of Aurora, Utah, step-son Brandt Jay Wood of Gardnerville, Nevada, granddaughter Jessica (Jacob) Hanks, and great-granddaughter Thea Hanks of Santaquin, Utah.

Preceeded in death by her parents Al A. and Afton Draper Peterson, her husband Ronald Earl Wood, her son Chanley C. Christensen and his wife Cynthia Christensen, and step-son Justin Ronald Wood.

Funeral services for Judy will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday July 7, 2026 at the Aurora Chapel, 85 North Main Street, Aurora, Utah. Friends may call for viewing from 9:00- 10:30 A.M. the morning prior to services.
