Johnnie Jimmie Uptain

Torrey, Utah - Johnnie Jimmie Uptain, age 71, of Torrey, died October 10, 2008 at his home. He was born November 2, 1936 in Montezuma, Colorado, a son of Robert Alvin and Mary Netka Lettmann Uptain. He married Annetta Jane Alvey, March 7, 1964 in Farmington, New Mexico. They were later divorced. He was a Veteran of the US Army and a member of the LDS Church. Johnnie enjoyed logging, fishing, camping and reading. He is survived by his children: Robin and Doug Bliss of Loa; Richard and Kelly Uptain of Richfield; Barbara L. Uptain of Monroe; Darla L. Uptain and Ben Mares of Torrey; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Annetta Alvey of Torrey; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ann Elizabeth Neely of Dove Creek, CO; Phyllis and Chuck Nichels of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters: Owen Joseph Uptain, Phillip Uptain, Margaret Uptain and Beatrice Raines; parents-in-law: Wallace and Mada Alvey; brothers-in-law: Ivan Neely and Corkey. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Torrey LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Bicknell, Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
