Hanksville / LaVerkin, Utah - John Doyle Jackson, age 76, passed away on November 24, 2025 in St. George. He was born on September 6, 1949 to Leo Doyle Jr. and Ethel Batty Jackson. He grew up in Loa and Caineville and graduated from Wayne High School, class of '67. On November 15, 1975, he married Kim Alene Sellers.
John was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, often taking local widows his fish. He also enjoyed coyote hunting and trapping. John enjoyed to tinker and fix anything and everything; he was a mechanic, welder, and creator of many things.
He loved to serve people. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he held many callings; he served as Bishop in Hanskville for 6 years, he served on High Council, in the nursery, as Ward Clerk, a building cleaner, a Sunday school teacher, and as an Elders Quorum teacher. John loved talking and visiting with people, he was always joking and trying to make others smile and feel good about themselves. John was a simple man who found joy in a hankie and a pocket comb.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Kim Jackson, of LaVerkin, his children: Stacey (Caleb) Wells, Stoney Jackson, all of Williston, North Dakota, Bradley (Karissa) Jackson of Francis, Kristin (Bryon) Welch of Covington, Washington, Vanessa (Spencer) Bergon of LaVerkin, and Jaron (Karrie) Jackson of Caineville, 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and his siblings: Terry (Jill) Jackson of Bicknell, Deena (Stanley) Alvey, Joyce (George) Peterson, Cindy (Jack) Wilkins all of Hanksville, and George (Mary Jean) Jackson of Caineville.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle Jackson, and his parents.
Funeral services for John will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the Hanksville LDS Ward Building. A viewing will be held from 11:00 - 12:30 prior to services.
Livestreaming of John's services will be available under his obituary 15 minutes prior to funeral starting.
Burial with military honors accorded by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Caineville Cemetery under of the care of Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
