Glenwood, Utah- Our beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor passed away May 23, 2022, in Glenwood.
John was born February 25, 1928, in Monroe, Utah son of Hugh S. and Harriet Lafevre Newby. He married Glena V. Coleman September 18, 1953, in the Manti LDS Temple. She passed away November 8, 2007.
John graduated from South Sevier High School and was drafted into the Army in 1950. He served for two years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various church callings.
John enjoyed fishing, especially at Big Lake. He was proud of his garden.
John is survived by his children: Keith (Chrissy) Newby of Richfield, Kenra (Waldo Jr.) Martinez of Glenwood, Allen (Christy) Newby of Colorado Springs, Colorado; as well as sisters: Patricia Jones of Pocatello, Idaho, Ruth Gates of Los Lunas, New Mexico, and Callie Clark of Albuquerque, New Mexico. John has 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He will be missed by many family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Lavar Newby, Calvin Newby, Quin Newby, sisters: Treva Henry, Teora Willis, Larene McCoard, granddaughter: Melyssa Washburn, and great-grandson: Jayden Johnivan Snyder
Friends may call for viewing Friday, June 3, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel: 260 North 400 West, Richfield, Utah. A private graveside will be held for the family Saturday, June 4, 2022, in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
