Salina, Utah - Jim Lea Blackburn passed peacefully at home surrounded by his children on Friday July 1, 2022 at the age of 85.
He was born April 6, 1937 to James H. Blackburn and Genevieve Wareham. He grew up in Arizona and Utah in his early years and served as a Petty Officer Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957. He later married the love of his life, Elaine Blackburn on Aug 22, 1973 in Ely Nevada. They later settled in Salina Utah. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2012.
Jim loved running around in early life with his cousins and brothers absolutely raising cain. Throughout his life he had a plethora of interests ranging from his love for guitar, tinkering around, cat skinning with the bulldozer, owning his own business and most famously his love for making homemade bread.
His family idolizes his witty sense of humor, his ingenuity, and his musically entertaining nature. They share fond memories with him in places he held dear including “cowboy camp”, gold claims and most simply, home. There are plenty of memories, too many to count, but one that will stick forever in the family’s heart is the green river run.
Jim is survived by his children: Cheryl (Kelly) Harrison of Magna; Jimmy Blackburn of Moab; Paul (Shelly) Fallon of Salina’ Kimberley (Layne) Johnson of Hurricane; Bud (Ashley) Fallon of Illinois; his siblings: Russ (Dixie) Swasey of Ferron; Rodger and Kathy of Salt Lake City; Lesley Wareham of Colorado. 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Blackburn; His son, James Bret Blackburn; His father, James H. Blackburn; His mother, Genevieve Wareham; His Grandson, Troy Madsen; His brother, Wally Wareham; and his sisters, Bonnie and Sue.
Graveside services with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the United States Navy Honor Guard will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 7 in the Salina Eastside Cemetery, followed by a family social at the Blackburn Residence, 150 West 300 North in Salina.
Services will be under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
