Obituary

Salina, Utah - Jeanne Frances Kokott Hatch - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully in her home in Salina, Utah on the morning of November 1, 2026. She was born in Torrance, California, January 14, 1950 to Max J and Vera Mae Kokott.

Jeanne, or “Little Beaner”, as her Dad affectionately called her, grew up enjoying annual school trips to Disneyland. As a child she had a short stint as an accordion player and a favorite dog named Chipper. Back then one of her favorite pastimes was swimming. As lore goes, her cousin lived next door and they would use his trampoline as a diving board jumping over the wall between their houses with the goal of landing in her back yard swimming pool. Probably not the safest plan. But, Jeanne was a bit of a tomboy and wasn't afraid to be a little adventurous when it came to having fun!

As a teenager, her last bit of time in California during in the early 60’s, was spent running a successful campaign for class president. Using the simple slogan, “Vote For JFK!" (Jeanne Frances Kokott), her presidency was short-lived as her Dad had decided he wanted to raise their girls somewhere “safer” and Richfield, Utah became “The Place”. to be “funny”, before she moved away, she told her friends with an accent, “I am going to Utah to get me a hoss named Flicka”. She did exactly that! But that horse had a handsome owner by the name of Deloy that came along with her.

Jeanne graduated from Richfield High School Class of 1968. Three months later she married her high school sweetheart, Deloy L Hatch, on September 21, 1968. One year later, Rachelle Deanne (their two names combined) was born. Twenty months after that Kristina “Krissy” joined the family followed seventeen months later by their first son Rob D.K. (Robby) Hatch. In January 1985 Matthew Bradan (Matt) was born, the surprise caboose making their family complete.

As Jeanne and Deloy began their married life together, they lived in Richfield, St George, & Kanab for a bit before moving their young family to Price, Utah. Deloy continued his work in the service station business while Jeanne found time to get her real estate license. In the fall of 1979, the Hatch bunch finally made the move back to Sevier County, landing in Salina which would become their home for the next 47 years.

Jeanne worked hard and played hard. Her and Deloy worked together in their various business ventures. They owned and managed several gas stations, a Taco Time franchise, and worked together on the UPS trucks at their Salina business, Hatch Auto Repair, for many years.

Jeanne enjoyed camping, hunting, and riding horses. Her favorite horse was Chippewa McCaw. She and Deloy loved riding horses in the mountains together whenever they could and Jeanne would say, “this is the closest to heaven you can get!” It was also such a fun time when the grandkids (wild bunch) got to ride horses with grandma and grandpa.

Jeanne and Deloy spent many afternoons and evenings exploring and hunting every back road and “short cut” around. It could be said with confidence that their time in the hills left no back road unturned.

Jeanne relished the simple things. She loved to cook and experiment in the kitchen and had quite a large collection of cookbooks. Some of her favorite trusted and tried recipes have been handed down to her daughters to be enjoyed for many more generations. She particularly looked forward to annual Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings with her family. Each child and grandchild held their own special place in her heart.

Jeanne picked up Golf after her kids were grown. She had her own unique self-taught style and swing. Jeanne loved the time spent at Cove View Golf Course and traveling to tournaments with her fellow lady golfers, whom she adored and enjoyed many fun days in the sun together. Some of her favorite golf highlights were winning. Jeanne won two co-ed, long-drive competitions, even out scoring the men. She also won a golf tournament - the Cove View Ladies Invitational. Jeanne and Deloy often found a golf course to stop and enjoy a tee time in their many travels. Jeanne encouraged everyone she knew to take up the sport and passed that love down to several of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, and playing in softball leagues.

Jeanne loved cheering on and supporting her grandkids who may have inherited some of her enthusiasm for athletics. Between football, golf, and boy’s and girl’s basketball, there were 8 state championships she helped cheer on. There may be a few more state titles to come with grandma cheering them all on from heaven.

Jeanne leaves behind a legacy of adventure, fun, laughter, and fierce love of her people. Our mom loved to laugh and had many friends that she loved dearly. If you were one, you know who you are. Thank you for loving our mama.

Jeanne, over the past decade, loved to travel to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas which quickly became one of her favorite annual outings. She loved cheering on the “Boys in Blue”, the Wright boys, and looked forward to it with anticipation.

Some of her and Deloy’s other favorite places to travel were to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Kentucky, and New York City to watch “Big Brown" (the UPS horse) run for the Triple Crown in the Belmont Stakes. Jeanne never turned down the opportunity to go on a trip or an outing with her family. She loved music and attended several concerts and musicals over the years. Some of her favorites were Mama Mia and Jersey Boys at Tuacahn. Her last concert trip was a year ago to see Paul McCartney in Las Vegas.

Some of the hardest times Jeanne endured in this life were losing her son and two grandchildren. Even though during her last few months she endured many health issues, she left this earth Sunday morning on her sweetheart's birthday with a soft, sweet, peace and a beautiful smile on her face. Leaving no doubt that she was happy, free of pain and those long awaited reunions have already begun.

Over the past few months, Jeanne remarked several times how grateful she was for the loving kindness shown to her by Deloy, in her words, “I couldn’t have asked for better”. The family would also like to shout out a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Zion’s Way Home Health & Hospice for the kind and compassionate care.
