Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Janice Jensen Nay, age 90, passed away July 10, 2024, peacefully at her home in Richfield, with her family at her side. She was born August 21, 1933, in Sigurd, a daughter of Marion Rasmus and Bernice Louise Starley Jensen.
Janice grew up in Sigurd, graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1951 and then attended Snow College. She married the love of her life, Mateland D. Nay September 27, 1952, in Sigurd. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 27, 1959. They lived in Taylorsville, Bountiful and after retirement, they moved back home to Richfield. Mateland preceded her in death May 26, 2021.
Janice is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings.
She worked as a seamstress making draperies and loved decorating homes and crafting. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, cooking, hosting family parties, camping and going to Yuma for the winters. She loved making porcelain dolls, looking for arrow heads, decorating for Christmas and other holidays, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Janice is survived by her children: Lesa Nay of Richfield; Lyle Nay of Summit Park; Bryan and Tiffany Nay of Richfield; Kevin and Ginger Nay of Kaysville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Bernice Jensen; her husband, Mateland Nay; two children: Starley Gleave and Kerry W. Nay; and her siblings: Hal Jensen, Jack Jensen and Bonnie Robison.
Graveside services will be held Monday, July 22, 2024, at 12:00 Noon in the Sigurd Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday morning from 10:30 to11:30 prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Sigurd Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
