St. George, Utah - With saddened hearts our family shares the passing of James Craig Flanagan at age 75 on September 15, 2025. His cherished wife and loving family were by his side at his home in St. George, Utah.

James was born on December 26, 1949, in Basin, Wyoming, to James and Alma Flanagan. He and his sister Linda lived in Ojai, CA most of their early lives. Jim and his wife Gina moved to Loa, Utah, in June of 1974. After living in CA during their adolescence they were looking for wild, open, spaces and found their little piece of heaven in Loa, Utah. They stayed in that beautiful area for 50 years. It is still home to them.

Jim was a hard worker his whole life. He started working different jobs until he landed the perfect job a Fish Hatchery Technician, a job he truly loved at Loa, Hatchery. He especially enjoyed traveling to restock ponds in secluded areas, where he could enjoy all the beauty of the mountains and taking care of fish was right up his alley. He retired in 2007 and we know he hadn’t gotten tired of fish, since he was fishing whenever he had the chance… but he didn’t quit working. We had ¾ of an acre and there wasn’t a weed to be found, He stated that cottonwoods were the dirtiest trees in the world, when the cotton blew, he had special words for those trees. He was teased since he raked the twigs, debris, and gravel better than Thanksgiving Point Gardens.

Jim will be remembered for his quiet unassuming strength and for the positive outlook as he fought Parkinson's for 14 years! Above all, he was a kind, honest and faithful husband and a very good man. Jim had a strong testimony of his Savior and knew families would be together forever. He had two passions in his life… his family and fishing in that order!

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gina; his children, Micah, Jesse (Karleen), Rory and Ashley Flanagan; and his grandchildren: Sienna (Seth) Ellingford, Lacee (Steven) Shapley, Tyrin, Keldon, Teegan, Navy, Kayleigh, Karsten, and Kanzley. He will miss his great-grandchildren: Athens and Locklan Ellingford.

He is survived as well by his sister, Linda, and brother-in-law, Larry Muñoz, along with their extended family and many close friends.

Per Jim’s request, no services will be held at this time.

Jim will never be forgotten, always missed and forever loved by his family and friends.
