Central Valley, Utah - It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Helen Bird, who left this world peacefully at her home in Central Valley on March 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born on February 23, 1949, in Panguitch, Utah, to Grace Young. As the cherished youngest child in her family, she held a special place in the hearts of her loved ones. Helen was raised in Panquitch. After marrying Tom, they resided in Circleville. Helen graduated from Piute High School. They moved to Richfield where they raised their children and then to Central Valley.
Helen was a vibrant, beautiful, kind, and caring spirit who took immense pride in her appearance, always ensuring her hair, makeup, and jewelry were perfect. She had a passionate love for music, dancing, and singing—especially with her karaoke machine—and even had the unique talent to yodel. Her wonderful sense of humor and infectious laughter brought joy to those around her. In her younger years, Helen was an avid bowler and a dedicated member of a bowling league.
A devoted family woman, Helen's home was a testament to her care and dedication, with every corner kept spotless. She will be fondly remembered for her famous peanut butter fudge and the happiness she found in spending time with her friends and family. Her love extended to her beloved dogs, for whom she often prepared homemade meals. To Helen, they were not just pets, but cherished family members.
Helen was a dedicated employee whose work was enriched by the association and camaraderie with her employers and coworkers. She retired from her favorite job at Barney Trucking of Salina.
Despite suffering from severe, often debilitating, rheumatoid arthritis throughout her life, Helen demonstrated incredible strength and determination, never allowing her pain to dampen her spirit. She fought bravely until the very end, leaving a legacy of resilience and love.
Helen is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Tom Bird, whom she married on August 7, 1965. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Raquel Bird and a son, Ryan Bird. Helen's family also includes her sister, Annette (Linden) Hatch; her granddaughter, Jade (Daniel) Jolley; and her grandson, Bucky Bird (Celeste Peavler).
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Raquel Bird; her mother, Grace Young; her brothers, Warren (Wanda) Young and Jimmy (Sharon) Young; and her sister, Theda (Lester) Peterson.
Helen Bird will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Her memory will continue to be a source of inspiration for all who knew her.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 in the Central Valley LDS Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:00 A.M. at the church prior to the service.
Cremation services are under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina.
