Venice, Utah – Gregory Phil Utley, age 77, passed away peacefully early on September 12, 2021 at his home in Venice, surrounded by his loving family after complications from a stroke. Greg was born December 2, 1943 in Tooele, Utah, to Lynn Hubert and Leah Berniece Gregersen Utley, the third child of five. Greg spent his early years in Joseph and Central, Utah. In his teenage years, his family moved to Richfield. Greg spent time hunting and fishing with his family, especially his brother, Gary and Bruce. He started working in Salt Lake City at Associated Foods, Cash and Carry Division. Shortly after he became a manager for warehouses in Ogden, Provo and St. George. He retired after 31 years in the grocery business. Greg married Cheryl Torgersen in Richfield, Utah on February 2, 1974. They were later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. They raised five sons and one daughter. Greg was very involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served numerous callings in the Young Men’s, Primary, Bishopric, Elders Quorum and Stake High Council. Greg’s greatest joy was spending time with his family in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a wonderful gardener and enjoyed spending hours maintaining his garden and yard. He loved anything BYU sports and planned everything around watching or listening to games. He was an avid reader and loved learning. Greg spent many hours working along with his son at Sevier Valley Health Essentials where he loved visiting with all the customers and sharing his stories and knowledge. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl of Venice; children: Rorac and Kristen Utley of Richfield; Rhett and Lacy Utley of Richfield; Annette and Travis Hall of Hurricane; Brady and Allie Utley of Enterprise; Marc and Mindy Utley of American Fork; Cade and Cara Utley of Venice; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings: Bruce and Patti Utley of Richfield; Barbara and Keith Grundman of South Jordan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Leah Utley; siblings: Gary Utley and Sharon Stott. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Venice LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Ward Chapel in Venice, Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Venice Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
