Aurora, Utah - Garth W. Larsen, 88 passed away peacefully on April 15, 2017 in Richfield Utah. He was born December 7, 1929 in Manti, Utah a son of William Wallace and Stephaney McAllister Larsen. He graduated from South High School in 1947. He was a member of the US Marine Corp from 1948 to 1971. He married LaVerne L. Wassmund in Aug. of 1951 in Oakland, CA. They had one son, Stephen Loren Larsen July 5, 1952. LaVerne passed away January 19, 1981. He later married Luana Peterson Larsen on August 25, 1981 in Aurora. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on August 25, 1994. Luana passed away on June 20, 2016. Garth worked as a dispatcher for Sevier County in Richfield Utah, until he retired. He was a member of the LDS church and served as a Temple worker from 1995 to 1999. He also served as organist and greeter in the Aurora 2nd Ward. Garth enjoyed camping, wood working and carving, making woven chairs for all his children and their spouses, reading LDS church history novels, playing chess and watching old Mash episodes on TV and old movies, especially John Wayne westerns. Garth is survived by his brother Lorin Duane Larsen of Tooele; his son Stephen Larsen of California, His step-daughters: Sharon Henckel of Mexico; Karrie Owens of Richfield; Shauna (Art) Polson of Firth, ID; Christi (Dillon) Dwyer of West Jordan; Robin (Jerry) Mortensen of Provo; Jackie (Brent) Terry of Fairview and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; two step sons Duane D. Skidmore and Bryan Gale Skidmore; siblings: Wallace max Larsen; Stephiney Jean Allen; Bessie Hatch; Carole Jennings; Verda Olsen; Kirk Larsen and Renaye Wright. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the Aurora 2nd Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing and visiting with family that morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.. Burial with military honors accorded by the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 17111 South Camp Williams Road in Bluffdale, Utah on Monday May first at 10:00 a.m. under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
