Elmer was born on July 18th, 1955 to Emma Sal Smith and Ronald Hugh Chesnut in Richfield, Utah. He was raised in Salina here he grew grit, independence, and an enduring love for the outdoors. He turned it down to start life and a family.
After graduation he married Debora Day Smith. From this union they had 4 children. They later divorced. In 2000 he married Dianne Luter of Harvey La. They later separated. Dad found his soulmate in 2014, Cherly Sitton. Dad and Cheryl loved to garden, fish and spend time together. They had many vacations and weekend trips.
Dad had many hardships and struggles in this life. Through it all he learned, and taught his children lessons in resilience, survival, and the beauty of the natural world, most of all to be authentic.
Through the smell of campfire, a thunderous laugh, the rasp of gravel under boots, these will echo in the memories of those who knew him.
