Springville, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend Dorothy Cunningham Hollis Miller returned home to our Heavenly Father September 8, 2018 at the age of 97. Dorothy was born February 4, 1921 to Clarence Carlos and Eva Rosalind Pitt Hollis in Pembroke Parish, Bermuda. She attended High School and graduated from the Whitney Institute in Bermuda. She married Alfred Paul Miller Sr. January 18, 1947 in Queens Village, Long Island, New York. He passed away on February 9, 1997. Dorothy was raised in the Church of England. Alfred was raised a Mennonite. They were married in an Episcopalian church in New York. After searching for the truth they settled on uniting all the family by becoming Lutherans. She and Alfred were instrumental in bringing the Lutheran Pastor to Bermuda and the building of the Lutheran church on the island. She performed many Christian acts of service in Bermuda. Later on she discovered The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and as a seeker of truth she was converted along with the whole family. She is considered the pioneer since she was responsible for bringing hundreds of her family members to the gospel. She served in the church throughout her life as Relief Society President, Sunday School Teacher, Primary Teacher, and Nursery Worker, just about all the positions. She has blessed generations through her willingness to follow our Savior. Dorothy left other legacies for her family. She loved music. She loved to sing and played the piano beautifully by ear. She wrote and published poetry. She encouraged her children to pursue their own musical talents. Her children with a couple other kids performed professionally throughout the Bermuda Islands due to that influence. She loved to talk, and was an engaging and interesting conversationalist. She enjoyed renovating her home and yard. She liked to collect spoons from all their travels to America. Most important to her was her family. Dorothy loved her Children and her Grandchildren with all her heart, and was loved in return. She is survived by her Children Phyllis Ann and Gary Krutsinger of Austin, Texas; Judy and Jerald Dastrup of Sigurd; Patricia and Steve Terry of Springville; Alfred Paul and Kim Miller of Groves, Texas; Mary and John Carlson of Springville; Mark and Marie Miller of Payson; her sister Phyllis Jemmott of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law Peggy Hollis of Bermuda; 35 grandchildren; 105 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Miller; daughters: Connie Eastman; Nancy Jorgensen; brothers: Jack Hollis; Aubrey and Ann Hollis; brother-in-law Col. Jerry Jemmott.
