Elsinore, Utah - Ardiss Darlene Peterson, 73, passed away September 3, 2023 in Provo, Utah.
Darlene was born February 5, 1950 to Omrey John and Anna Marie Hansen. The Hansen’s resided in Elsinore for the duration of Darlene’s childhood. As a girl, Darlene enjoyed the outdoors, especially horseback riding and spending time at the family cabin. She developed an interest in embroidery and crocheting and spent many Sunday’s with her mother driving up Sevier Canyon; where they would crochet together while enjoying the scenery.
Darlene graduated from South Sevier High School with the class of 1968. She then went on to attend school at Dixie State College and Weber State College where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She raised 3 children who she loved dearly, Shane, April, and Candus.
Darlene spent 18 years working for the Richfield Care Center. She later joined the travel nurse program and worked in New Orleans, Show Low, Arizona, and Salt Lake City at the University of Utah and St. Mark’s Hospitals.
Darlene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed being a member of the Elsinore Riding Club. Darlene loved horses. She competed in local rodeos and riding club events in barrel racing and pole bending. She enjoyed camping as well as quilting, knitting, and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who had the pleasure to know her.
Darlene is survived by her children: Shane (Staci) Peterson of Richfield and April Peterson of Elsinore; brothers: Marvin Hansen of Central Valley, James (Carol) Hansen of Elsinore, Forrest (KayLyn) Hansen of Elsinore, Sterling (Phyllis) Hansen of Richfield; sisters: Ruth Shaw of Aurora, LaJeanne (Rex) Rowley of Fillmore; Virginia (Gerald) Williams of Yuma, Arizona, LaNeetta (Donald) Sudweeks of Annabella; sister-in-law: Kaye Hansen of Elsinore; as well as 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter: Candus Toth; brothers: Rodney Hansen, OJ Hansen, Conrad Hansen, Havolyn Hansen; brother-in-law: Ronnie Shaw; and sisters-in-law: Karma Hansen and Blanche Hansen.
A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 12:30 P.M. at the Elsinore City Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield.
