5,4,3,2,1…Blastoff! Dad, Grandpa, husband, brother and friend, Dan Wedge Manning Jr., age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Richfield, Utah on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. He was born August 3, 1929 to Dan Wedge Manning Sr. and Rosalynd Geidner Manning of Richfield, Utah. Dan was a respected member of his community where he served as a pharmacy owner and valued hospital member in Winnemucca NV. Our dad and grandpa lived a full and happy life surrounded by family and friends who loved and cherished his lighthearted humor and generosity. He was a beautiful piano player and had an amazing zest for life. During his retirement years, he pursued his passion of geology and dinosaurs by volunteering his time to participate in archeological digs throughout the state of Utah and Colorado. He was fascinated with the beautiful night skies of Utah. He created a night sky observatory where he spent many hours teaching and sharing his knowledge and love for the constellations and moon with anyone who would listen. In his later years, he enjoyed his many pets, gardening and woodworking. Dan is preceded in death by the love of his life, JoAnn Aldaya, who recently passed in October 2017, his sister Nannette, and his parents. He is survived by his siblings, Martha, Mary, and Richard, his children Dan Michael (Donna), Tony (Cindy), Frank, Nancy, and Barbara (Elle), his beloved 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. As in life, so in death, Dan Manning continues his generosity and love of science by donating his body to The University of Utah. Currently, no services have not been planned. However, there will be a private dedication memorial in his name at a later date.
