Mayfield, Utah/Apache Junction, Arizona - Dale C Whitlock, 89, passed away Jan 31,2014, in Apache Junction, Arizona. He was born January 22, 1925 in Mayfield, Utah, a son of George Franklin and Ida Olive Scow Whitlock. He married his high school sweetheart, Bessie Bell Hutchinson, April 24, 1946 in Elko, Nevada. They had 5 Children, Stephen, Dale Lind, Ross, Janet and Todd Whitlock. His sweet Bessie passed away from cancer in 1965. He kept his promise to her and raised 5 wonderful children. He later married Jerrie Lee Roach Petersen in 1976. She had two children Bruce and Hope. Dale and Jerrie moved to Arizona in 1997, enjoying their summers in Utah. His family was his life, as he taught by example. He loved his career in the automobile industry. His cheerful personality brought repeat customers for many years. He was completely unique in his talent to play the saxophone. His bands in Utah & Arizona, brought much joy to himself and others. He loved entertaining and played the wedding march for 3 of his grandchildren's wedding. He is survived by his wife, Jerrie, of Apache Junction, Arizona; his children: Stephen H. and Sheila Whitlock of Provo; Dale Lind Whitlock of Mayfield; George Ross Whitlock of Payson; Janet and Tim Williams of Provo; Todd F. and Lisa B. Whitlock of Mesa, Arizona; Bruce and Wendy Petersen of Grand Junction, Colorado; Hope Robertson of Salt Lake City; 23 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bessie; two brothers and one sister: George Cleon Whitlock, Boyd Franklin Whitlock and Zelda Anderson. We will never forget his affectionate, happy-go-lucky personality and his sweet, cheerful smile. His unconditional love for all, made him the man we love and respect. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 8, 2014 at 12 Noon in the Mayfield LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may visit with the family from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Centerfield Oliver Russell American Legion Post #204 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Mayfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
