Carrol S. Orsbun Clark, 79, of Annabella, Utah, passed peacefully at the breaking dawn on September 9, 2025, with her loving granddaughters by her side.
Born August 5, 1946, to Herman Lee and Betty Jean Garner Orsbun in South Gate, California, Carrol overcame many hardships of a difficult childhood with strength and grace. She found comfort visiting her grandparents and relatives in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where she was deeply loved and learned to cook and sew, skills she carried and cherished throughout her life. As a teenager, she became friends with members of the Mormon faith. When she sought a blessing to convert from her family's Assembly of God tradition, her preacher grandfather, known for his singing ministry, told her: “I’ve known many Mormons, and they are the kindest, most Christ-like people I’ve met.”
Carrol graduated from South Gate High School in 1964 and soon met the love of her life, Lennis William Clark, at a Friday night stake dance. He whisked her onto the dance floor, ignored her engagement ring, and announced their upcoming marriage at a fireside three days later. Though she would later advise against such a swift courtship, Carrol always said she was incredibly lucky to have found such a kind and steady eternal companion.
Much of her adult life was spent in Upland and Colton, California, where she raised her two daughters, Shana and Holly, coached girls' softball, was active in the Junior Women’s Club, and supported her hardworking husband, who often left early and came home late. She also worked as a secretary for the county office and stayed active in the workforce from the 1980s through the 2000s.
Carrol built lifelong friendships with her chosen family- the Gublers, Stoddards, Moores, Morgans, Wilkinsons- and her childhood best friend, Donna Hoff. The summers spent together at Lake Powell were some of her favorite memories.
In 1995, she moved to Annabella, Utah, where she played a vital role in her grandchildren’s lives, supporting them in their many activities. She danced with the Green Valley Cloggers, lovingly tended to her flower garden, and took joy in watching hummingbirds. Carrol served as a Cub Scout Master and held many callings in the LDS Primary organization for over 30 years. She loved all of “her kids.”
In her later years, she enjoyed crocheting, quilting, word search puzzles, road trips, card games, music in nearly all forms, and watching Survivor and true crime documentaries. She had a fondness for cute shoes and a deep love for sunsets viewed from the porch of the home she and Lennis built together. After he passed, Carrol missed Lennis with deep grief that she could not overcome. We find comfort in the sentiment that she no longer suffers without him. Carrol was a remarkable example of resilience and strength. Her warmth, wisdom, and sass will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Carrol is survived by her daughters- Shana Clark and Holly Solomon; her five grandchildren- Kendra (Spencer) Barney, Joshua (Michelle) Clark, Breanna (Chase) Davis, Amber (Dan) Craig, and Ashley Bunyan; and her great-grandchildren- Jaxson, Colby, Halo, Harland, Rayni, Waylon, Austin, and Bridger.
