Elsinore, Utah - Brad Johnson passed away on December 21, 2025 from the effects of a life-long battle with brain tumors at the age of 48. 

Brad was born to Chester Thomas and Patricia Jean Powell Johnson on July 26, 1977 in Gunnison, Utah. He grew up in Elsinore. He graduated from South Sevier High School in 1995. After high school, he attended Southern Utah University in Cedar City for two years earning an Associate of Electronics degree.

He married Marsha (Tuttle) Johnson in the Manti Utah LDS Temple on March 15, 1997. They have 4 daughters; Kaylee (Austin) Perkins, Autumn Johnson, Trinity (Dayne) Nelson and Breann (Dallas) Failner. Six grandkids; Trail, Kove & Kolter Nelson, Reed & Reagan Perkins, Alahya Johnson.

After returning home in the summer of 1997, he worked some odd jobs for the summer and finally obtained full time employment at Peterson Plumbing Supply in Richfield. He worked at Peterson Plumbing until December of 1999 at which time he was hired by the State of Utah/ Utah Highway Patrol.

Brad's entire career was in the safety inspection program. He was hired as a special function officer. In 2002, he, along with his co-workers were given the opportunity to upgrade to Trooper status and were sent back to attend POST. He spent many hours traveling the state of Utah, visiting vehicle inspection stations and investigating safety inspection complaints. He spent a lot of time with the safety inspection crew, inspecting school buses. He served with the Utah Highway Patrol for 24 years and 9 months before retiring on September 1, 2024 due to heath issues.

In February 2025, He went to work at Larsen's Ace Hardware until August 2025 when health issues took him from the job again.

August 2025, Doctors discovered that tumors had spread throughout his spinal cord now becoming categorized as cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday December 29th, 2025 at the Elsinore LDS Building. A viewing will be held from 9:00- 10:30 A.M. prior to services. Friends may call for viewing the night before from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Richfield. 

Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery, 75 North Main Street, Elsinore. Rights accorded by Utah Highway Patrol Honor Guard.
