Ann
Cumiskey
October 14, 1941 – April 4, 2026
Monroe, Utah - Ann Cumiskey died on April 4, 2026 at her home, from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Ann was an active and vibrant person and made many friends during her lifetime.
Ann was born on October 14, 1941, in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California. Ann spent most of her youth in the greater Los Angeles area. After graduating from Antelope Valley Community College, she married one of her fellow band members, Roy Cundiff. They moved back to the San Fernando Valley where they each began their careers, he in aero-space and she in banking. After several more moves they landed in Seal Beach and then divorced. Ann then obtained an RN degree from Long Beach City College and went to work in the medical community. She soon met her future husband, Dick Cumiskey. They remained married for the duration of her life.
One of the highlights of her life was the graduation of her daughter, Joyce Pritchard, from medical school at the University of Utah. Outside interests included sailing, camping, mountain hiking and desert exploration. Upon retirement they both expanded these activities to include coastal cruising, with several trips through the Sea of Cortez and along the Mexican coast on friends’ boats. After switching to land based exploration, they tried several different RV’s, then settled on a fifth wheel trailer and started touring the U.S. With numerous trips north, south, east and west, they visited all the lower 48 states – many multiple times - and most of the Canadian provinces. There were always new friends to make and new places to explore.
Ann had an interest in our local communities, volunteering to teach line-dancing both in Richfield and Monroe, drove antique tractors in the local parades and participated in other antique tractor events aboard her own John Deere. She helped with Christmas Tree Lane and became the “brochure queen” for the Richfield Visitor Center. Whenever someone needed help, she was there.
Ann was always ready for social events and co-hosted many with late Kathy Christensen. She loved being with other people. When not socializing, she could always be found in her garden and irritated by “weed growth.” She was particular about how her yard should look – and it always looked good.
Of all the accomplishments in Ann’s lifetime, the one she remembers best was marching in the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena with her college band. After 40 years, she again took up the flute and started playing in Richfield’s Messiah orchestra.
Most of all, Ann was a kind and generous person. She loved and respected others.
Ann is survived by her husband Dick and his son Sean, her daughter Joyce and her 3 children plus 4 great grand children.
Cremation services for Ann are under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina.
