Lyman, Utah - Vernon Willis Oldroyd, age 69, of Lyman, was called home to his Heavenly Father, September 6, 2006 at the home of his daughter in St. George, Utah, after a long battle with diabetes and cancer, with his loving wife, Margaret, by his side. Vernon was born March 22, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Willis Andrew and Luzella Farnsworth Oldroyd. Vernon married Margaret Lou Parsons, for time and all eternity, December 4, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their life together in Lyman, Utah. They enjoyed each others company doing whatever, from riding in the truck to working on the farm or just sitting. Vernon made a living farming and later, logging and trucking. Vernon loved his wife and family with all his heart. And what a Big heart he had. He has always loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Vernon also loved to spend time with his extended family, nieces, nephews and cousins. Vernon loved to be outdoors in the mountains, in the fields, or where ever there was fresh air. He loved to work with his hands. He could make anything and fix anything. He was an active member of his faith, serving in many callings including Sunday School Teacher, Elders Quorum, two different Bishoprics and on the High Council, High Priest Group Leader, Scouting, Home Teacher and others. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend. We will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Oldroyd of Lyman; his children: Debra and Michael L.
