Monroe, Utah - Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Thomas Allen Searle, age 89, of Monroe, died March 26, 2012 in Richfield, Utah. He was born May 31, 1922 in Lost Creek Canyon, a son of Allen and Margaret Ellen Taylor Searle. He attended schools in Wayne County and Sevier County. Tom joined the CCC’s for two years, when he was not quite 17 years old and then he joined the US Army and served his country during WWII in North Africa and Italy. Tom married Glenda Creviston, December 7, 1942 in Provo, Utah. They had two children, Jimmy Allen Searle and Margaret Sharon Searle. They were later divorced. He later married Nellie Hilda Jensen, his childhood sweetheart, December 7, 1978 in Ely, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple February 23, 1995. Nell died April 13, 2006. Tom was an active member of the LDS Church and was a very dedicated Home Teacher in the Monroe 4th Ward. He worked at Geneva Steel for 34 years. He owned and operated a Rock Shop in American Fork for many years. Tom was a demolition contractor and traveled all over the country, building roads, dams and lakes. He is survived by his children: Margaret and Joe Hamilton of Ft. Worth, Texas; Helen and Bill Gilbert of Battle Mountain, Nevada; Scott and Yvonne Lee of North Carolina; Rebecca Ann Fillis of Monroe; Nancy and Bob Winfield of Springville; Barbara and Jason Anderson of Provo; Alice and Dan Wagner of Bonnie Lake, Washington; 38 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Rodney Searle of West Valley City. He was preceded in death by two children: Jimmy Allen Searle and Margaret Sharon Searle; one brother, Lowell Albert Searle; and five sisters: Verda Albrecht; Nina Curtis; Nelda Searle; Ellen Searle and Lottie Anderson. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Monroe 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 49 East 200 North in Monroe. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Ward Chapel in Monroe, Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be Monday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in the Fremont Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
