Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Richard Allen Pitts, age 87, died January 6, 2012 in Gunnison, Utah, after a valiant and brave battle with colon cancer. He was born August 29, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Howard and Frances Lozier Pitts. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was awarded the Victory Medal American Theater Ribbon; the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon; 1 Bronze Battle Star and 3 Overseas Service Bars. Richard worked as a sales person in home sales. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberley Quinn of Richfield; a granddaughter, Emily Babb; and one sister: Gloria Pavlides of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Grave side services with military honors accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5050 and the Utah Honor Guard will be held Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
