Laurence S. Price Loa, Utah - Laurence Sherry Price passed away peacefully on July 25, 2004 at the Gunnison Valley Hospital at the age of 82, due to complications from cancer. He was born in Los Angeles, California on June 4, 1922 to Stephen Henry and Henrietta Odile Hatch Price. He was the youngest of 10 children and the only child in the family not born in Utah. He was also the last surviving member of Stephen and Henrietta’s family. He married Wanda Louise Schroeder on September 4, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 14, 1963. Laurence was a WWII combat veteran serving in the Coast Guard during campaigns in the South Pacific and the Philippines. After the war, he became a member of Cass, Owen and Topsy, a vaudeville troupe that performed all over the world and known as “The Worlds Greatest Comedic Acrobats.” As vaudeville gave way to the movies and television in the early 1950's, he quit show business to raise his growing family and became a fireman in Burbank, California. In 1961, Larry and Wanda left California with their six children to return to the family roots in Utah. They settled in Farmington, where he became manager for Lyon Van Lines. After retiring, they moved to Cedar City and finally to Loa, where they have lived for the past four years. Laurence is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda L. Price of Loa; children: Laurence O. and Lorna Price of Syracuse; Patrick A. and Carolyn Price of Ogden; Nancy L. and Ronald Trump of Centerville; Guy W. and MaryLou Price of Cedar City; Reginald J. and Karen Price of Clearfield; Wanda C. Price and her fiancee, Randy Lewis of Hyrum; Sherry L. and Scott Ellett of Loa; as well as 39 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher S. Ellett, as well as three sisters and six brothers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.
