Junior Serrano

Salina, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, father and brother, Celerino “Junior” Serrano, age 70, of Salina, died July 25, 2009 in Provo, Utah, of complications from a stroke. He was born July 1, 1939 in Coyote, New Mexico, a son of Juan and Eufelia Ortega Serrano. He graduated from Coyote High School Class of 1957 and served in the US Army for two years and the National Guard for four years. He herded sheep in Wayne, Sanpete and Sevier Counties for several different men. Junior met and married Leonilla Gallegos, August 20, 1966 in Coyote, New Mexico. He worked as a Coal Miner in Sevier and Emery County for twenty years. Then he worked construction from 1985 to 1995 and finally worked for Salina City for five years before retiring. Junior enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Nella Serrano of Salina; children: Kevin and Joyce Serrano of Salina; Corinna and Glen Brewer of Asheboro, North Carolina; 3 grandchildren; sister and brother: Isabel Madril and Gilbert Serrano, both of Coyote, New Mexico. Grave side services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Salina Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
