West Valley/Bicknell, Utah - Garland LaMar Bray, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away in the Loa Beehive Home on September 25, 2016 in Loa, Utah, at the age of 86. Garland was born on August 18, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Robert LaMar and Grace Allene Lumpkin Bray. He was an eagle scout. He graduated from Bingham High School with the class of 1948, and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He married Sandra Shuler on August 26, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He received Bachelors of Science degrees in both math and physics from the University of Utah in 1957. Garland enjoyed the outdoors where he loved to hunt, hike, fish, and camp. He had a vast number of interests and life experiences, far too many to list here, but more information is provided at his family's website: http://www.rootcellar.us/braygar.htm He is survived by his wife Sandra Bray of West Valley City; his 3 daughters: Bona Rose of West Valley City; Karen (Kevin) Keeley of Farmington, New Mexico; Allene Moore of Woodland, California; his 2 sons: Larry (Mary) Bray of Bicknell; Mike Bray of Layton; a brother Eldon (Zona) Bray of St. George; a sister Afton (Bob) Babecki of Copperton; 17 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren. Garland was preceded in death by his parents LaMar and Grace Bray; little brother Lawrence Webb Bray; and a son-in-law, Pete Rose. A celebration in honor of Garland's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 8601 West Hillcrest Street, Copperton, Utah. Casual dress. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. Military honors will be provided by the Utah Honor Guard. Services are under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the staff at both Hunter Hollow and the Loa Beehive Home, and to Ryan Denison. We are truly grateful for the excellent care, and the kindness you showed both us and Garland in his final days here on this earth.
