Evelyn J. Mason

August 3, 1926 — April 14, 2012

Aurora, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Evelyn Eva Johnson Mason, age 85, died April 14, 2012 in Ephraim, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 3, 1926 in Elsinore, Utah, a daughter of LaVar (Bish) and Bertha Baireline Johnson. Evelyn graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1944. She married Lawrence W. Mason, November 13, 1945 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died May 5, 2011. Evelyn was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many teaching and leadership positions. She shared her creativity in writing numerous road shows, plays and programs. She was actively involved in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Evelyn is known for her beautiful landscape oil paintings. She enjoyed doing crafts of all kinds, ranging from cake decorating to doll making to painting textiles. She was very artistic and creative and shared these talents with friends and family throughout her life. She is survived by her children: Dianna and Kent Jeppesen of Perry; Roger L. and Karen Mason of Tucson, Arizona; Clyde W. and Ann Mason of South Jordan; Marlin C. and Cynthia Mason of Ephraim; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister: Kay and Norma Johnson of Tooele; Wana Fae and Ted Smith of Monroe. She is preceded in death by one brother, Verdon Johnson. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Golden Skyline Assisted Living Center in Ephraim and the attentive Hospice team from Gunnison Valley Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 85 North Main Street in Aurora, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
